DR ALEXA EDGLEY - CONSULTANT CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST (BSc Hons, PsychD, CPsychol, AFBPsS)
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO VERY HIGH DEMAND ALL MY CLINICS ARE NOW FULL AND I AM NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT PRESENT. I WILL RE-OPEN FOR REFERRALS FROM SEPTEMBER 2024.
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working as a senior clinician for NHS-commissioned mental health services in Surrey and London. I currently work as a Clinical Lead for a London NHS Trust. My private practice clinic is based in Weybridge, Surrey.
I specialise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), but also Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. I am also a qualified EMDR therapist. I also use generic counselling, humanistic, systemic and psychoanalytic models of psychotherapy to inform my work. I am therefore able to offer a very client-centred approach, using different evidence-based psychological models to suit the individual.
I work with individuals over the age of 16. Clients can self-refer directly or be referred by GPs, Psychiatrists, other health professionals and insurance companies. I also offer supervision to other independent practitioners.
Deciding to embark on therapy can be anxiety provoking and finding the right therapist is one of the most important decisions you can make. I offer compassionate, effective and practical support, ensuring that you feel understood, valued and safe.

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY
"My sessions with Alexa Edgley always felt safe and really gave me the opportunity to open up about any issues. She is the most professional, compassionate, and non-judgemental person I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I cannot praise her enough - I genuinely do not have the words to describe what she has done for me in the past couple of years. I came to therapy with an onslaught of issues and at my worst could be quite irrational, but she was always patient with me. My mental health and my ability to cope with life in general fell into a very dark place and with the help and guidance of 3 Wonder Women (my wife, my GP and Alexa) I was eventually able to pull back from a serious situation. Since these dark days, my mental and physical health have come on leaps and bounds and once again I am enjoying family, friends, and life again. Whilst sessions with Alexa could be difficult and challenging, I never felt uncomfortable and it is not an exaggeration to say that Alexa saved my life - I have no idea where I would be without her help."
"I see Dr Alexa when life and career circumstances are challenging and when I feel my mental health is beginning to suffer. She offers a safe space, an empathic ear, balanced with practical advice. She encourages me to see all the good work that I'm doing and also helps me get things back into balance. Going to Dr Alexa is like having a great MOT service for my head. I do it ever so often and my life always runs more smoothly from it".
"Alexa's style is warmly empathetic yet professionally detached providing me with the ideal atmosphere in which to examine and challenge my behaviours, responses and beliefs. Her extensive experience of 'real world' human interactions gave me a breadth of examples with which to compare and contrast my own. Whilst I found it difficult to face and deal with my issues, working with Alexa is refreshingly effective and for me extremely beneficial."
"Thank you for helping me live again."
